The Oncology Departments in Denmark treat patients with all types of cancer. In addition, they include a Late Effects after Cancer Clinic for patients experiencing long-term complications following cancer or cancer treatment. The role includes assessment, treatment and follow-up of patients, with a strong focus on continuity of care and shared decision-making. Each doctor has the opportunity to follow their own patients while working closely with experienced colleagues. Treatment options include chemotherapy, antihormonal treatment and biological therapies. If inpatient care is required, patients are admitted to internal medicine ward. The department works closely with other specialties involved in cancer diagnosis and treatment and participates in multidisciplinary team conferences and radiology conferences every week.
